Particular points to remember when moving house...
- On removal day the removals team will deal with large pictures, mirrors and other free standing objects which cannot be packed into boxes. However, these items should be taken down by the customer if they are screwed or fixed to the property.
- Chest of drawers can be left with the contents in, although breakable items should be removed; if the chest is too heavy to lift the drawers can be taken individually.
- Fitted carpets should be released if fixed to the floor so that they are ready for the staff to roll up on the day of the move.
- In the interests of safety all electrical or gas appliances must be disconnected prior to removal.
- Likewise, unless otherwise agreed, washing machines and dishwashers should also be disconnected prior to removal. In the case of this machinery it is the customer's responsibility to fix them for transit according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Freezers, as recommended by manufacturers, should be defrosted before transit, normally two or three days before. If this is not possible we will of course still move them providing the customer accepts that it is at their own risk. In the case of chest freezers we will put the contents into large sacks.
- Goods stored in the loft should be brought down prior to removal day.
- Where possible outside effects should be assembled all together ready for removal and in a dry condition, and any large tubs or pots emptied if too heavy to be moved.
- If sheds or other outside goods such as climbing frames or swings are included in the removal, these should be dismantled ready to move.
- If parking at the loading or delivery address could be difficult please try to arrange sufficient space for the removal vehicle.
